About Palácio de Queluz

The National Palace of Queluz was built from 1747 as a summer residence for the Portuguese royal family, and was home to three generations of the court. Its architecture moves from Baroque to Rococo and Neoclassicism, and it sits between Lisbon and Sintra, about twenty minutes from the city centre.

For events, the palace opens some of its most famous rooms: the Throne Room, its largest hall, for around 200 seated guests; the Music Room; the Ambassadors’ Room with its tile panels; and the Robillion staircase, terraces and gardens for cocktails at sunset.

Filming a wedding at Palácio de Queluz

Queluz is pure cinema: gilded mirrors, chandeliers, painted ceilings and long perspectives through the state rooms. We plan camera positions carefully, because the palace is a national monument and every movement has to respect it.

The gardens give the day its light: an aperitif on the terraces as the sun goes down, portraits along the formal hedges and fountains, then dinner in the Throne Room. It is one of the few places in Portugal where a wedding can feel like a royal ball.
